Dr. Ramesh Chandra Srivastava assumed the role of Chairman of the Farmerface Group on 21st September 2022, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a lifelong dedication to agricultural development and research.
Born on 1st July 1956 in Allahabad (Prayagraj), Dr. Srivastava completed his early education in his hometown. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering from the prestigious Allahabad Agricultural Institute. Pursuing academic excellence, he went on to receive his M.Tech. and Ph.D. in Soil and Water Conservation Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, in 1978 and 1993, respectively.
With a distinguished career spanning over 46 years in the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Dr. Srivastava has held several prestigious positions:

Dr. Srivastava is widely recognized for his contributions in transforming rainfed agriculture into irrigated farming systems through innovative water resource development and management technologies. One of his most impactful achievements was converting a completely rain-dependent region into a two-crop irrigated zone, empowering even tribal communities—once engaged in hunting—to become successful cultivators of rice, pulses, and potatoes.
